Ebba Kalondo back to work in Namibia?

In response to a recent FB shout-out by Ebba Kalondo, Deputy Head F24/RFI Africa Service @EbbaKalondo,  about whether or not she should apply for the job vacated by Dr Audrin Mathe (PhD in Rhetoric Studies), i.e., Chief News and Programming Officer and Deputy Editor in Chief at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, I replied –

At the unlikely risk of lifting more than one or two eyelids this morning, will you be able to bring enough gutzpa to cope with the idle complacency of the Namibian media and the vast majority of its followers? Namibian audiences don’t need rhetoric, they need amphetamines ;-)!

This does not imply that I am not grateful for public radio, which is often the best forum for people to talk about big ideas to a broad audience, but cynically, there will never be a “Namibian Spring”.  Frankly, can you imagine any form ocivil resistance in sustained campaigns involving strikes, demonstrations, marches, and rallies, as well as the effective use of social media (hah!) to organize, communicate, and raise awareness in the face of the Namibian state’s continued lack of transparent accountability for vast amounts of money, time and resources squandered on ‘development’?
